Bower Labs builds Bower, software for research and development teams that documents scientific work as it happens. Using voice, video, images and instrument readings, captured at the bench or through smart glasses, it produces structured, audit-ready records of experiments and builds a searchable knowledge base from a lab's past work.
The product also includes an AI "co-scientist" that surfaces relevant protocols and past results, flags deviations and guides researchers through procedures in real time. It is meant to reduce knowledge lost when researchers leave and to shorten onboarding and tech transfer.
The company is based on the Gold Coast, Australia. It was co-founded by CEO Michelle MacRae, previously a product leader at Microsoft, Google and Dovetail, and Chief Science Officer Renaud Joannes-Boyau, a geochemistry professor. In August 2026 it announced a $2 million pre-seed round. Named early users include Mount Sinai in New York and Southern Cross University.
