The company was founded in 2020 as ImaliPay by Tatenda Furusa and Sanmi Akinmusire. ImaliPay initially offered financial products to gig workers before the business concentrated on embedded insurance under the ImaliClick name, starting with travel and hospitality. It operates in markets including Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
