Micron Technology designs and manufactures memory and storage chips: DRAM, NAND flash and solid-state drives. Its products are used in data centres, PCs, smartphones, cars and industrial equipment.
Micron is one of only three major DRAM makers in the world, alongside Samsung and SK Hynix. Demand for its high-bandwidth memory (HBM), which sits beside the processor in AI accelerators like Nvidia's, has made AI a key driver of its business.
Micron was founded in Boise, Idaho, in 1978, and remains headquartered there. It has factories in the US, Japan, Taiwan and Singapore, and is building new US fabs in Idaho and New York.
