Salesforce makes customer relationship management (CRM) software, sold as a cloud service. Companies use it to manage sales pipelines, customer service, marketing and commerce.
It has grown through acquisitions including MuleSoft (integration), Tableau (analytics), Slack (workplace chat) and Informatica (data management), and now sells Agentforce, a platform for AI agents that work across these products.
Marc Benioff co-founded Salesforce in 1999 and still leads it. It pioneered selling business software as a subscription over the internet, and listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2004.
