SpaceX designs, builds and launches rockets and spacecraft. Its Falcon 9 was the first orbital-class rocket to land and fly again, and reusable boosters have since made it the world's busiest launch provider. Its Dragon capsule carries crew and cargo to the International Space Station, and Starship, the largest rocket ever flown, is being developed to be fully reusable and to take people to the Moon and Mars.

The company also runs Starlink, a constellation of thousands of low-orbit satellites that provides broadband internet to homes, ships, aircraft and mobile phones around the world.

Elon Musk founded SpaceX in 2002. In February 2026 SpaceX acquired xAI, the maker of the Grok AI models, which also owns the X social network. SpaceX listed on the Nasdaq in June 2026 under the ticker SPCX, in the largest IPO on record.

Why I own it

Space will define this century, and SpaceX is so far ahead it's hard to name second place. Reusable rockets collapsed the cost of reaching orbit, and Starship aims to cut it again by an order of magnitude.

Starlink turns that launch advantage into a global internet business. With xAI and Grok now part of the company, SpaceX also has a frontier AI lab, and I think it will have the best frontier model by the end of 2027.

SpaceX reaches orbit while Zendir tests missions in software first
SpaceX's Starship reached orbit for the first time on 28 September, a milestone even though the mission was cut short after an engine failure, and it placed 26 upgraded Starlink satellites in orbit along the way. Canberra's Zendir works the other end of the same problem, building digital twins that let engineers model a spacecraft's systems and failure modes before any hardware is built. One proves itself by flying, the other by simulating everything that could go wrong first.
